I have been only sleeping for 3 to 5 hours at a time for the last 2 days.I have been continuously pumping out rain water in my basement. My sump pump is starting to lose it.Hope fully the rain is done in a few hours.

Let's just say this.My legs hurt so much from walking up and down the stairs for at least 18 hours now.

My shop vac is a 10 gallon container.I have pumped out and shopped vac over 250 gallons of water. It's been a long time since i had my pipes and drains redone.

If any one else lives in Pennsylvania or Texas right now you know how i feel right now.The northern states like main and new york are getting hit hard right now.

My power only blinked 4 times.Never went out.My power only went out once in the last three years i have been living here.

The only time my power goes out is when they are performing maintenance on the power grid thingy down the road.

Feel sorry for you or anyone who has to deal with flooding. Disheartening for sure.

Sadly it's looking like hurricane Florence is going to hit land probably Wednesday and cause some damage and usually heavy rain follows.

Mine is not as bad as some peoples.I am at least able to keep mine contained.Due to the sum pump.

The fire department down the road from me was called several times through out the night due to flooded basements.Mainly due to probably living near creeks and streams.I was listening to the Fire and Ems calls on my CELL.There were a lot of power lines down around me.Due to mostly trees falling on to them.

Good luck with removing the water wile.......I hope we don't have to send a boat to rescue you.....and I hope you are nowhere near hurricane Florence.

A while ago I had to help a friend pump out his cellar when the drain to the sump got blocked and his sump pump failed. I picked up a pump similar to this
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Electri...695333&hash=item1ea7b5305e:g:DJwAAOSwg8taAXvi
from a hardware store as it pumps 10 gallons/minute with up to 8metres of head.
We just ran a hose from the pump into the toilet upstairs and then connected a short inlet hose then turned on the pump. These pumps can easily pump up to 8metres in height and it cleared all the water in the cellar, which was over 5 feet deep, in about 40 minutes. The only thing we had to do was make sure the pump didn't suck up any debris.
    Stay safe :)

You miss understand my basement is all ready dry.lol

But any who.The reason why i get my basement cleaned up so fast is due to a 10 gallon shop vac and a sum pump with a well.I dump the water that is in the shop vac into the sump pump well.Takes less then 5 minutes.

My pump works just as it's not suppose to.I will end up getting a new one.Probably during winter.

The reason why i was able to dry my basement quickly. Is because i used my furnace and a Bullet heater.I got the basement up to around 90 degrees for 3 hours. It's called either a bullet heater or torpedo heater.I get the temp up fast. And it's run by Kerosene. And having 4 fans blowing the heat around.Dry's it out pretty quickly. To help prevent mold.

Actually a lot of places don't have basements. Some Southern States Don't Have Basements.....Mostly due to the water table underground.

Sitting here in North Houston area, in our high-rise condo, I can feel you. We were completely surrounded by water 8 feet deep by Harvey last year. Spent a week as an island 18 stories tall.

Same as UK most dont have basements, some older city houses do as used to house the coal. We just build houses in worst areas possible for flooding, near me a new housing estate has planning and on a known flood plain, what could possibly go wrong!

On 1 September we remembered the flood on the same day in 1968.

Officially more than a foot of rain fell in just 4 over hours.
