I have the following problem sometimes mouse and/or keyboard stop to work and computer freezes. Only thing that is left to do at that point is to restart it. All this happens randomly. Please advise what to do about this I already checked cable connectivity and defragmented HDD.

What operating system are you using ?
If it is XP you can put your disc in the cd/dvd drive, press start, run, type in sfc /scannow, and wait with finger on mouse button to keep pressing retry, and Windows will replace faulty files.( can take up to an hour)

I strongly suspect from what you are saying that your mouse and kb are usb. If this is indeed correct, make sure in the first instance that you have no other usb devices connected to the mobo and confirm whether this freeze still happens.

    Good Luck
