Perpetual Startup Issues

    My PC recently went into a mode where it keeps trying to start up, but eventually reveals the blue screen of death. To get around the issue I've been able to go back to an old restore point, but when I've tried to install updates and/or re-install Norton Security, the same problem occurs. I also tried installing Windows 10, which got pretty far, but displayed 0% for one of the last processes for several hours before I finally cancelled the installation.

    I ran through all the steps in the READ ME FIRST forum and log files are attached from RogueKiller, Malwarebytes, and MGTools. TDSS Killer did not identify any issues and neither did Hitman. I wasn't able to get a log from Hitman as I got a message saying the trial period had expired; not sure what happened there.

    Thank you in advance for taking a look and offering any suggestions for repairs.

    Not seeing much to do at all here in this section of the forum. You might have to post in the software forum about your issues.

    Fix item using RogueKiller.

    Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7/8 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
    When it opens, press the Scan button
    Now click the File tab and locate this detection:

    • [PUP][Folder] C:\ProgramData\{9A88E103-A20A-4EA5-8636-C73B709A5BF8} -> Found

    Place a checkmark next to this item, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.
    When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
    Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
    Reboot the machine.

    http://imageshack.us/a/img841/7292/thisisujrt.gif Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

    Thank you for the fast response! I don't see a file by that name in the list to delete. Attached is the RK log and the JRT log you requested.

    I'll wait to hear back from you before posting my issue on the software forum. Thanks again for your help.

    Re run RogueKiller, let it remove this entry on the files tab:

    • [PUP][Folder] C:\Users\Mike\AppData\Local\iLivid -> Found

    Then you can follow final steps. You should post in the software forum about your issues.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    I had run JRT after RK, which deleted the iLivid file that showed up in the RK log, so the file didn't show up in the RK file when I re-ran it.

    Thanks for all the help - very much appreciated. My startup process is still acting up so I'll post on the software forum as you suggested. Must be a problem not associated with malware.
