For reasons I cannot fathom, my pc is experincing problems with opening explorer windows (actually, keeping them open) while other, more complex tasks perform fine, i amn frequently having to force quit explorer tasks because they freeze up andwill not display contents or change directory. I can't even close them manually at this point. I have defragged, spyware blasted, spybot S&Ded, Avasted and ad-awared, and this problem continues. my best guess at the cause of this problem is a bad divx file i downloaded. It wouldn't play and resists my best attempts to delete the file (it come up clean on all my scans however). wheter this is the problem or not, anyone got any advice on getting rid of it? Thanks for the help -Dallas

If Windows Explorer is constantly hanging on the same folder then it is mostly likely caused by a corrupt file. Try MoveOnBoot

I have had this problem when my CDROM went bad. Is your CDROM and floppy reading okay? Try running scan disk. As for deleting the file, you look in the config section of HiJackThis click on the Misc Tools button. There you can tell it to delete a file on reboot. A recommended program in the forum is Pocket Killbox
