I dont know if this counts as a malware removal problem.
i have this file "Half-Life 2 Steam Crack Keygen v2 23.exe" on my comp
and when I try to delete it i get a message that it is used by another program and can't be deleted.

It doesnt go on a clean boot either and i didn't succeed removing it. I don't know if it's malware and ad-aware,a-squared say my comp is clean. i have it quite a while and i don't have any performance problems either but it still bothers me that i can't delete it.
is there a way to find out which program loads this particular file and remove it?

    thanks
    Ran.

    Welcome to MGs!

Who downloaded the crack to the PC in the first place? Most things like this downloaded from the net contain viruses and trojans.

Is the game still on the PC?
Is something related to the game loading at startup? If so, that may be why you cannot delete the file. If not, you may have other malware causing the problem.

Did you try to boot in safe mode and then delete the file?
    Where is the file located?

You can also try using the below program to unlock and delete the file.

    Unlocker

    Thanks Alot!!!

I used Unlocker and it went down.

I still don't understand why this happened. The game is uninstalled
the file was located in my emule incoming folder. It didn't delete in safe mode
and there's no startup prog related to it (I recognize all the prog's listed under the startup tab in "msconfig"). the "Unlocker" said the locking process was "Explorer.exe". What does that mean?

It means it was link to your Windows shell. That is everytime your PC booted up and your Desktop loads, this is Windows Explorer (which is explorer.exe). So since it somehow got tied to explorer.exe you could not delete it until explorer was unloaded. That is what unlocker did for you.
