Persitent Adobe Digital Editions License Agreement

I downloaded ADE to read e-library books. When it was time to update, a persistent license agreement started popping up that will not go away. I tried uninstalling Adobe Digital Editions and Adobe Air, but this didn't help.

If one searches the net, many people are reporting this problem. The popup window is titled, "Adobe Digital Editions 5.4.0 Setup: License Agreement".

I now know that this happens usually on opening Chrome browser and on on some kind of interval as long as Chrome is open. It does not appear when browsing exclusively with FF.

I did not uninstall Chrome and reinstall Chrome because I do not think this blind effort will make it cease.

    Any advice?

I do not blame you for staying away from Chrome. I only have it because FF inconvenienced me big time.

If one enters the Adobe forum, one can find several almost recent posters with this same grievance and the threads gravitate toward commiserating with each other and how Adobe is not responding to this bug.

I use FF ESR (extended support release) less updates and fewer bells and whistles, as my backup browser.

I switched to Palemoon as my browser when FF started going crazy with updates and adding and removing features.

You might be interested in looking at Palemoon. https://www.palemoon.org/
There is a portable version (click download and you'll see the option in the menu) so you can try it without installing it.
I use the same addons, with one exception, as I do in FF. I switched from ABP to uBlock Origin.

As far as Adobe, the only Adobe item I use any more is flash and I have that set to "ask to activate".
I had AIR because one site told me I needed it. I discovered I did not and uninstalled that.

That is typical. They have too many programs and don't give good support with many of them.

Thank you for that recommendation. I will likely try them.
Now, to my problem. ANYone know what registry keys or out-of-the-way folders keep this popup alive? Any way of tracing its path on my machine?
