You asked for it. One is the new puppy ( Stinky Doodle --- Dakota ) who is now a year old. And our Yellow lab that we lost a few months ago.

Stinky Doodle eh? I wonder what inspired that name?;)roflmao Nice pics guys. We had another thread a few years ago about this topic. I'll try to find my uploads if I attached them.

Looks like the cat out grew the basket, augie!! How cute. Stinky Doodle is my name for Dakota ( which the wife hates - because he stunk when we got him from the kennel.) :-D

LOL...It took me a sec to figure out that augie didn't have his cat strapped into a straight jacket.

    Cute pics.

Tim, we call my new bulldog stinky...Holy crap does she have to worst gas...she'd make motc jealous.:-D

I hope this doesn't beget another fart thread!:-D:p Good luck with the bulldog. You have to be the pack leader as these are stubborn dogs.

Ya pistol, I love the avatar of your relaxed golden.:) Good deal on the mutt too considering, my smallish(15 lbs) poodle mutt hit 16. I find mutts to have less health issues than pure breeds, never had one more than 10 years or so.

Hey pistol, your older dog reminds me a lot of a Spaniel/Labrador cross breed we had when I was a kid. (Except she had a lil' stubby tail, lol!). She went gray, like your one as well. She lived to 13 before liver failure got her.:(
Nice pooch too, Harry. ~ Heck, I like 'em all, eh.:-o

Goodness Mimsy, your little black girl looks the twin to my rescue cat. He'll never replace his predecessor - they each have their own unique personality and traits. These photos display some of those traits:

    1. typically curious on his first day upon arriving home.

    2. Has had a fascination with my Laptop since a kitten...

    3. Found other uses with the keyboard as a kitten...like keeping his butt warm! His size now prohibits this practice (grown the size of a small panther, long, tall and lean, weighing in at 6.6 kg - i.e. 14lbs 8.80oz even though I keep him on a healthy and strict diet!)

    4. Captured him in a quiet moment...I think he was trying to do a "Charles Aznavour" (famous French actor of old who was labelled "bedroom eyes"):cool

    Cheers

    @ Mimsy and legalsuit.

Your (black) cats look just like my Penny who was a rescue cat as well. The only difference was that she had a white round spot on her neck. She was very active and we loved to play together. She loved her ping pong balls and had a preference for black (fake) mice to play with. When I played a cat DVD on my PC she used to go to the back of the monitor to look for the birdies and squirrels and paw at the screen and then look outside if she could spot them. She used to type along with me as well. :cool I still miss her so and kept some of her favorite toys.

    Hi Oma

    .

Know exactly what you mean...I hardened against getting another companion when my little pal passed on...the house he filled with his presence screamed unbearable silence when he was gone.

Like you, I kept a couple of momentos that sit by my late companion's photo like a shrine.

I lasted quite some time until my eyes met those of this small panther when he was a kitten, and I was a goner. My new companion is a healer who came along at the right time and quickly trained me into submission:p

I expect there is a little healer out there who will step into a companion position with you when you're ready too.

    Cheers

Does yours have a bend in his very last tail bone as well? Mine does, apparently it's a genetic trait in American Siamese cats. She's very eloquent and pushy, and loves jumping after toys flying in the air (she's easily the best shot blocker I've ever seen), so she obviously has some Siamese in her somewhere.

Both our cats are rescue cats. We got the black empress from the local Humane Society when she was a kitten seven years ago, and the big gray guy was in the corner in the local pet store that they let the various animal-help groups in town use to advertise for homes for abandoned and stray cats that they've found.

  22. legalsuit

    legalsuit Legal Eagle

LOL Not this one...As for being eloquent? He definitely is vocal the way he banters (or rather argues) with me when what I want differs to his intentions.

He is country stock and I reckon his parents were ferral given his growth rate and size (rescued by RSPCA at 2 weeks old middle of Summer in a country tin shed amidst dead siblings)

So eloquent? Nah! More down to earth, dinkum country type of male in getting his point across!

Like your Mimsy he loves jumping after anything that moves, flys. Quite the climber...from day one as a kitten, I was looking on top of tall furniture and cupboards for him...he loves heights...so around the house he keeps an eye on me from above...particularly when I'm in the kitchen, where he'll stalk me:-D:

This is the most recent picture, but little girl kitty has grown a bit since. That's kind of her name but shortened to Lg. We got her from a friends daughter. The mother was hit by a car so the kittens were fostered to different families. They were bottle fed. When we got her she was ok but wary. Fenton (other cat) was very interested in her but everytime she came toward him he would run away. He's afraid of everything. My daughter rescued him from Calgary, and we ended up with him. Both cats are excellent pets, and great entertainment. It took about a week for them to lay on the bed together. They are inseparable now.

Heard a ruckus outside one afternoon. Went to check and found 3 baby rabbits being picked on by some magpies in a deserted gopher hole. Was thinking about trying to raise them, but after reading up on that subject a bit, realized their best bet for survival was for me to return them to the woodpile next door and hope the parents were still around. But, Koda had a great time keeping his eye on them.
    cute kitties.

Not sure if this will work, but giving it a try. (WOW! First time I've managed to attach a photo lately. Thanks Laura.)

Snowy is 12 years old and rescued from the Meow Foundation. By law, cats in our city have to be on a leash when outside, but it doesn't stop her from enjoying the sun on my patio.

Snow is beautiful! Is she deaf, or is she one of the few lucky white cats who can hear?

How adorable. Must have been hard to give him up.

Poor bubs! Koda must have enjoyed that.

Great story and rather remarkable that they now both get on so well. Good looking cats.:)

See he has commandeered the lounge...seems to be a curious kitty too!;)

Katie appeared in our garden at Easter 7 years ago, barely moving from a sunny spot under the conifers at the bottom of the garden. After four or five days of this I went down to see if she was injured but all I got was hissing and couldn't get near her.

I checked around the neighbourhood but no one knew anything about her so, hating to see any animal suffer, I started putting food and water out for her. The inevitable happened as bit by bit she began to accept that I wasn't actually intending any harm, and these days she is a loved member of the family, spending about 18 hours a day in that soft box of hers.

My wife just hated cats previously, but Katie has changed all of that ;)

I adopted Snowy from PetSmart, too. They are somehow connected with the Meow Foundation.

Thanks, Mimsy. No, she isn't deaf and can hear me putting her food out from a mile away.

This summer, she came close to having her ears amputated. A neighbour sprayed my garden with poison three times, even the plants around the patio, and she must have brushed against them. She lost all her fur and several layers of skin, her ears turned black. I have a photo of her in that state if I can find it.

My gray one (Loki) is also from Petsmart. In my town, they let three animal foundations share the Petsmart space, and each of the three set their own rules. Loki is from NAC. :)

Ooh man, that sucker looks more dangerous in a tree than on the ground. Either way, Aaaacckkk! Looks like something that Austin Stevens would a get a pic of. The guy is nuts IMHO but he does get the beautiful shots. No, I didn't screw up the name either.;)

Anyone remember all the exotic pets I used to own? I really wish I was in a place where I could have exotics again. Nothing was more rewarding than rescuing those unwanted exotic reptiles and small mammals. Some were a challenge but they all held special places in our hearts. Now we are down to our two dogs and a cat.
