Been a long time coming, but now that the economy is in the crapper I can afford something a bit nicer. Moved out of town (2miles) and it makes all the difference in the world. Cool evenings and best of all no neighbors for an 1/8 mile :-D so me and the cats can relax.
Still moving this weekend, so the nerves are frazzled and I am tired (7 p/u loads so far)
ya never know how much junk you got till ya move. I will try and get a few pics (the backyard is like a park (beautiful)), I have my own greenhouse for growing tomatoes and other assorted vegatative matter rolleyes.
2bd for 1300 a month (utilities not included) yup thats cheap in Northern California, but I am 6 miles from the beach and 40 miles to San Franpsycho.

Oh and switched from DSL to Cable , love that speed

    @ Tim W
That would be Bodega Ave on the way to the beach about 4 miles from the coast guard base. If your a turista then it is the main artery to the coast from Petaluma CA. And yup ics just gotta remember where I packed the camera LOL.

@ Kestrel 13- Yup love them home grown veggies and they are way cheaper than the stores. Really enjoy the October green fruit--LOL

I thought the same thing when I had my job at the start of sucky economy. I was like perfect time to get house for less. But no. most 95% cut hours and a lot closed down. I lost it all:( Thank god I didn't get a house because I would've lost it. But congrats on the new house and post some pics!

San Franpsycho, that's so funny. Congrats on your new place. That sure is cheap for Ca. not long ago you would be lucky to find a room for that.
    Sounds really nice, :)
Now I'm jealous, wanting to leave Armpit.:(

I know a realtor who said even with FULL qualification of 25% down and high credit, the lenders are making it almost impossible to close deals.

Glad you found a house Petaluma.

Really? I thought they eased up on lending. Maybe that was just refinancing?

We actually just refinanced our house (yes, less than a year after buying it--rates tanked), and it wasn't that hard. Our mortgage broker mentioned that a lot of lenders are a lot more cautious now, doing their own credit checks and house appraisals and so forth, since a large part of the current economic crisis apparently had to do with many people getting mortgages when perhaps they shouldn't have. I got the impression it's very much a case by case basis for them, and a change of mentality. Instead of looking at each applicant as a source of revenue, they now look at each applicant as a potential risk, so instead of looking for excuses to give the loan, they look for reasons to turn you down.

Either way, if it's hard to get loans now, that just makes Petaluma more awesome. ;)

We refinanced also. In fact the mortgage contacted us to do it. Perhaps because they were one of the companies under scrutiny for their original lending practices.
Did it over the phone, no fees, was scary easy. :-D

    Nice! Congrats.:)

Yeah, the economy in the crapper worked for us as far as refinance went. We went from a 30yr to a 4.3% 15yr. We're paying close to the same amount. Pretty cool.

No, the refinance is a backlog but moving process. The Realtors all say they have one or two deals pending and then at finance it fails.
    :(

I see, aw that's too bad.
I took some real estate classes at a local college way back. Decided I liked the appraisal end of it. Had to quit, it interfered with having dinner on the table when his highness got home:(
