Phone/computer hack?

Hi everyone and thank you all for the great welcome to this group. I will stick to the facts about my problem and wont get all emotional as that wont help you to help me lol.

I don't know if you have heard something like this before but here goes.

I met my best friend and lover online three years ago. Everything was great until a year ago when he messaged me to say someone had read all the emails that he had sent to me and phoned his home to cause serious trouble. He said someone had hacked into my phone. But how was that possible because when i gave my phone to my daughter I unlocked it and all info of mine got deleted so it was like a new phone. [blackberry 8520.] I was on orange network and she is on 02.

To put it bluntly I have changed my phones and email addresses over the course of the last year and the hackers have still got in and read everything and caused damage by spoiling relationships.. My daughter is not tech minded and does not know about phone hacking or computer hacking.

I emailed my friend last November and told him everything I had done phone and computer wise but he wouldnt listen. He still insists my phone was hacked and that I caused trouble by sending hin that email. Why hasnt his family contacted me if they knew I had emailed him? They could have seen my email address if they had seen my email to him.

Also, not once has anybody phoned me on my phone or emailed me to cause trouble and say that they have read my emails etc. Only him and his family were contacted which I find strange. Everything is just same as normal at home.

In the end he just broke contact. I am heartbroken. Another point is that my sim card was locked and my phones have all been password protected. Nobody touches my phones except me. I am at a loss to what could have happened.

Could somebody have hacked into my computer from down the street or something? Also it was just the email address I used for him that was read and used to cause problems. Not my email address I used for banking or anything.

 

Alright a couple questions I need answered. One is your internet on an unsecured wifi signal? Two what makes him think it is your side? It could very well be from his side that got hacked. Last question is what kind of trouble were they causing? Was it some kind of ex or just someone trolling?

 

Excuse my butting in, but do you have any actual proof that he or his family was really phoned or e-mailed or contacted in any way ?? Is there any proof your phone was hacked, and not just him fabricating the story just to get out of the relationship ?? Just wondering.

The hackers or whoever they are found my friends landline number from somewhere as well as his mobile [cell] number and phoned his wife to tell her what we were kind of up to if you get my meaning. I have never even dreamed of getting his home number for obvious reasons. My friend says the calls were anonymous and were two different numbers and from my area of the country. He is a computer geek himself and works with geeks so I had to trust him on that one. His wife involved the police as she was very ill with what the hackers told her on the phone. I find it strange that the police did not want to talk to me or examine my old phone.

I even bought a phone and got an extra line to use just for him without my family knowing and yet....

I have no proof at all about anything. Just his word.

I gave my daughter my old blackberry early September 2011 when I upgraded to an android phone and the phone calls to him and his wife started January 2012.

I even paid an app to have photos kept in a secret vault on my phone. I had avast anti virus software on my pc. It slowed my pc down a lot but I thought it was worth it so nobody could hack into it. Eventually though my pc just slowed down totally and stopped altogether.

Please keep asking questions lol. This must be confusing.

By the way, if I forget passwords to sites I have to reset them with a great deal of hassle so how on earth do hackers override this sort of thing lol. Perhaps it is best you maybe dont answer that one as I really dont want to know. lol.

 

Sadly it is very easy to over ride that kind fo thing lol. So basically he was cheating on his wife that was ill? That does not sound like the kind of guy any woman should go for first off. So the hackers were the ones that decided to be the good samaritans and tell his wife? Friends of hers? There is no doubt that someone could get past these firewalls norton and mcafee put up. So here is another question. You said a death was the cause of all this? I do not see this in your story at all.

Where did I mention death? Can hackers invent phone numbers and make it seem like they live near me then?

Why are anti virus and firewalls invented if experts can override them?

Ok, was the calls made after you gave your daughter the phone ?? If so, then she may have phoned them in an attempt to protect you from being emotionally hurt. Also, I understand that the two of you, him and you, were playing a risky game, but also like mp4him3 said, these these do happen, no security is perfect. In my "work" I deal with alot of People who do out of the ordinary things. My original opinion that he is fabricating all these calls and e-mails to get out of the relationship still stands. As for as security, you should find what you feel is the best and hope for the better, and be careful and play it safe in the future.

 

Very true my friend. I also believe he is making up these "problems" just to get out of a situation he knew he should not have been in. If he was a real man he would just tell you up front but unfortuneatly they are few and far between. I think you are ok but you may want to reformat and install everything fresh and that should also change your IP. If you need any help doing that I am here to help along with others

Here is another really technical question that only you geeks will be able to answer. You all seem to know what you are talking about and I am giving you a compliment by saying you are all geeks.

I have got my old phone back off my daughter. Is there a way of going deep into its memory to see what calls have been made from it without the sim card she used being in it?

 

I'm with the majority, this guy is making the stuff up to dump you, sry. I know you can't believe that. The next thing is to ask him for proof, emails, phone records (all cellphones will give a detailed bill) but if this guy is lying to his wife (by cheating) you think for a second he is telling you the truth?
Move on or go over and confront him with his wife.. that will fix everything.:-D

 

So you all dont think I have done anything wrong with my phones or pc then?
Surely nobody could make up those sort of problems just to dump me? They are too original for that. He was such a nice romantic guy and promised me he would love me forever etc etc.... and would always need me.

I notice nobody is answering my technical questions lol......ok I will leave the hacking stuff to people who understand what they are doing lol.
By the way if [and it is a very BIG if] it was my daughter why did she wait five months after getting my phone to search for my friends details on line and she didnt know his surname or anything or where he worked or lived....

He refused point blank to give me all the details in case it damaged my family. I would like to know why his wife didnt contact me to give me abuse etc...

 

May I please remind everyone that this is a technical help forum and as such personal opinions on the actions of others should be kept to a minimum.

@blackwillow: it is possible for people to send emails posing as you by using your email address but my personal opinion from the information you have provided is that it is more likely that he was hacked and not you.

 

a cheating and stupid person, I say stupid based on

someone read all the emails and then called his house? who was this person and why was your stupid/catfish lover allow this to happen?

If there's no tech help needed anymore in this thread, I think this soap opera/drama is over. Time to change the channel. :wave

 

I am embarrassed now about posting my problem.

watchntv....I have no idea who the person is who made the calls. That is what I was hoping to find out by asking technical questions to work out what I had done wrong to let the hacker into my private life whoever it maybe.
