    Hi!

I'm trying to find a free photo editing program that lets you crop your pictures into shapes instead of the standard box format... cropping your pictures into something like a bubble or a heart or something OTHER than a boring straight edged box. Does anybody know of such a program?

    Thanks so much! :)

    Thank you so much!!! :)

This is very close to what I am looking for. The only problem with it is that it's just a bit confusing and frustrating for me. I am very NOT good when it comes to photo editing programs. I get very overwhelmed by them. I can't even go near photoshop! LoLz! :p

This one is good for what I wanted it to do for the most part (I was hoping to find cut outs for the cropping ... like the heart shapes or etc...but it's still better than boxes! :) ) ...I just couldn't control it easily and that became very frustrating for me. :(

But thank you SO much for taking the time out to make this suggestion!!

    ;)

It has as much to do with the file format you save in as it does with the program used. I saved this one (after erasing the background) in Corel Paintshop Pro (I don't have Photofiltre on my computer any more) as a PNG, specifying the alpha channel as the transparency. A jpeg will always be square, well actually this is square too, but there's a transparent area to it and a jpeg just doesn't do that.

PNG's support transparencies, a few other formats do as well. Finding the format that works is part of the trick. I'd guess that The Gimp might be able to do this as well, it's about as close to a freeware competitor to full blown Photoshop as you can get.
