Photo printing, malware transmission?

Not sure this is a silly question or not, but it's something I've wondered because of recent malware that jumps from plug in devices like flash drives and digital cameras and mp3 players and so forth (and apparently the new virut that's running around out there now does this, if I understand correctly, just like Conficker did?)...

You know those places where you can have your digital photo's printed, where you can plug in your camera into a USB port or use a flash drive with your photo's on it, places like Walmart, for example? I wondered if it was possible that malware could be transmitted by those means. Can an infected flash device or camera infect those machines, and can they, in turn, subsequently infect whatever camera or flash drive gets plugged in? I was recently going to use one of these places to get a photo printed onto a coffee mug, and I ended up ordering the item online instead. ;)

It got me thinking about this malware issue when I was deciding how to go about getting this coffee mug made up and I was concerned about taking a flash drive or my camera to one of these places. Maybe it's better to use a CD.

I always take mine there on a cd, that way I have both a photo' plus an archived copy of all my printed pic's.
