Have not looked at all of the posted works yet but the first couple pages ( most resent ) seem to be mostly nature shots. Does it get too complicated to create categories for " Nature ", "Abstract", "Photo-shopped/Edited", and perhaps set up a fill out form for an information about the work, camera/cell-phone, etc?

Just asking. Enjoying the photo's in any event.

Hey K. You bring up some interesting points. I think maybe more nature shots are taken because we're all surrounded by nature and it provides so many opportunities to get a great memory shot of what we've seen round us. Just as people take family or group shots at events, to preserve the memory. We've seen a good variety of photos of other content too. Motorcycles, cars, houses, street shots. There were other threads that have been dormant or deleted in the past.

You can also start and maintain any topic or thread that you feel others might enjoy. Do share!

I like different subjects. I travel through 3 counties in either direction with my work. I often see where people have old family plows and tractors and cultivators and cotton gins and such out in front yards on display. Most have been there a long time. Just for people to see as they pass.
I would like a collection of pics of some of these old items and maybe talk with the owners about the past use/history of the equipment. A photo book of sorts.

Many different topics provide good chances.

We see some great talent here with Kes(thread starter), LauraR and a several others who have great insight on what makes good pic.

    Hi Kryptonite

Glad you enjoy the photo work that some of our members post, we have talented folk here and TBH you do not have to be a pro to get good photos, most of the time a very ordinary object can look good, just may need to have the photo of a different angle or position to what normally would be taken.

As to your question and thank you for it as good one, its not hard to create different category folders as you mention but its not something we would really wish to action at this time, if we were a photography forum then yes but this is just fun and an area for members to show off their works, hey can be anything, give it a try as dont need a fancy camera as many phones these days have good enough cameras.

Thanks for your thoughts! Sorry I've been MIA for a while. Maybe others know what that is like to get blindsided by life and " TCoB " ( aka Taking Care of Business ) sucks the time out of a Rolex or a Timex. In any event I think that you are on to something about the reasons why....

But here is one of the things I noticed by accident a few years ago. For starters I couldn't understand why phone manufacturers put camera's in cell phone because I wondered " Just how GOOD can a cell phone camera be "!?!
LOL...wow, what time can prove. But even before that reality set in with cell phone with these mega pixel camera not to mention the convenience that most of us must have learned about already; I started using the camera in a " top of the line " ( at the time ) cell phone and there is no doubt that the quality of the photo's were no where near as good as my digital or film camera's. That said the photo's in that camera have won awards in photo shows because the weird " quality " gives them this rare " artsy " look. When I find the SD card that I used for those first shots I will post a few of them.
If you are not an art buff they may look like poor quality pictures.

So rather than belaboring this allow me to invite anyone and everyone to just post some of these the shots that are not so obviously " picture perfect " I will take the time to post some easy to access photo's that I've taken especially the ones that most of the people who look at them turn the camera upside down or side ways of just shake their head. Those are signs to me that the photo's are usually interesting not necessarily seen as "GOOD" or certainly not "GREAT"

I really look forward to the replies and the photo's thanks for your thoughts!
