    Hi,

I am starting to do some serverside work so decided to install the necessary applications on my comp. I found xampp which has apache, mysql, php among other needed utilities bundeled together in an easy to use installation. That all went fine but when i tried to run a php script on my comp i get a box that comes up asking to run, save, or cancel. any ideas on how to fix this??

    thanks

Is the file being accessed through a web browser, or by double clicking on the file in Windows Explorer/My Computer?

    And is apache running properly?

    hi,

it happens if i doucle click or type in the location of the php file.

apache looks like its running fine.

are those the only two reasons why it would be doing this??

I don't know if those are the only two reasons, they're just the only reasons I can think of at this time.

If you are accessing the .php files via a browser like this: http://localhost/pagename.php it should work, as long as the files are stored in the directory that the web server software accesses. The website for xampp says that they should be stored in (installation directory)\xampp\htdocs .
