Blimey! Our physics lecture (on capacitors if you must know), was inturrupted by a Year 11 running in to tell our teacher that one of the other teachers had "sorta fainted" Of course, all us Upper 6th guys know that he's diabetic! "Sorta faint"ing aint good!

From what I heard he was just walking around after setting a question, and collapsed and hit his head on a cupboard on the way down. Worse case he's hypo and got concussion.

I think he's been having a bad week, I went to see him the other lunchtime for some advice about my design project and he seemed a bit lethargic and down.

    I hope he'll be alright :/

Can be a serious problem, especially if he requires Insulin. Brittle diabetics can suddenly go into hypoglycemic shock and go down like the Titanic.

A packet or two of sugar in a glass of Orange Juice will often help tide them over til they can get medical attention.

I`m insulin-dependant diabetic myself. This past Wednesday morning my Father found me passed out on the garage floor. He, of course, called paramedics. I recovered quickly with a sucrose iv and a tall glass of orange juice. The point is...it came upon me too quickly for me to prevent it. That is the very first time it`s happened so quickly. If you know, or spend any time with diabetics...most will carry some kind of sugar...that is a candy bar or several pieces of hard candy. When a diabetics blood sugar drops below a certain point(with me it`s 80 or so)they can usually feel it and take steps to avoid passing out and maybe hurting themselves on the way down. That wasn`t the case with me this past time...and it may not be so with others either. I call on other diabetics to let your friends and acquaintainances know of your medical condition just in case this ever happens to you.

Hypoglycemia can be pretty nasty. Yep, a Barley Sugar or two in the pocket comes in handy.

I'm 'borderline' myself. Being sick for weeks has not helped the situation.
