Picture folders load very slow in explorer

hi,

The picture & image folders on my system load very very slow.
It only happens on folders containing JUST pictures and images and it
doesn't matter how many pictures are in it (JPG files).
I work in details view and windows classic folder style.
the photoshop icons just load sequentially (SLOWLY) for each JPG image when I open a folder with only images.
Because I have folders with many pictures this makes burning in nero for example impossible and extremly slow .

I have Pentium 4 3.0GHz, 512MB RAM,Windows XP Pro Ver:2002 SP2, RADEON 9600 128MHz. My pagefile is set to 2560MB
my HD is 30% free and formated to NTFS and it is not fragmented.

Your pagefile is quite large, is there any reason why it would be so big?
The recommended in general is 1.5x the size of system RAM, so about 768MB in your case, setting MAX and MIN the same.

I guess your right about the pagefile, I lowered it to 1GB still
the problem isn't solved. I tryed disabling my antivirus(NOD32) and stoping the
Windows Image Aquisition service as suggested on that link and it still doesn't change anything.
The AV is the only intrusive program I can think about that I have. And if
this was connected to program intrusivenes or memory management problems
why does this happen only in picture folders?
