Pictures on a folder

I have a Dell laptop with Windows XP and Mozilla Firefox. I have a folder with many pictures in it and recently, when I view the folder many of the pictures have kind of a film over them. If I open a picture separately this causes no problem, but if I try to view the folder as a slide show, none of the pictures with the film over them appear in the slideshow.

Can anyone help me get rid of the film covering some of the pictures?

The first thing I would suggest is to look at the file attributes of the pictures. Do that by right clicking on the file and go to Properties and make sure it is not marked as hidden or read only.

The same problem of having the pictures clouded over appeared again. I tried the suggested method(I made sure the folders weren't checked hidden or read only...then "apply" and then "OK?) that worked so well before and it doesn't seem to work anymore?

Should the read only box be unchecked and white or unchecked and blue? I think I tried it both ways.

I would add that this problem occurred yesterday when I did try to make these folders hidden, but I thought I undid that.

    Any suggestion greatly appreciated!

As an additional clue to what might be going wrong, I just discovered that I can no longer show the pictures as a side show. When I click on that option, only the first pictures shows.

I was able to fix the problem.

Before I had tried to take the whole folder and make sure it was not hidden or read only. But for some reason this had apparently not worked because when I clicked on an individual picture I saw it was still marked as hidden. So I selected all the pictures in the folder and then removed any hidden or read only checks and everything works the way it should now.

    Thank you!
