Pictures - Your Antivirus and Firewall Program! Please

Hi Guys,

I`ve seen a few pics here an there of a company modelling off its antiviral software, aswell as firewalls, but the pics are one sided.

Can you all post pictures of the main program window, any secondary program window(s), etc. I want to get a feel of each Antivirus and Firewall user interface, without installing every antivirus an firewall, just to pic one of them, I`d end up having to reformat. I wish we had a program that could capture our screens into a video, but I`ve never seen one so I do not think its possible, when I say capture it, like as in filming the screen with a videocamera, but instead, the screen itself being the videocamera, and the picture being whats filmed... if that explains it :S

I have been using Zonelabs Zonealarm Free and Avasts antivirus Free home edition, but Zonealarm has a few restrictions, aswell as the combo, Avast had to disable the Web Scanner component when Zonearm was installed, the popup said its an known incompatibility and they are trying to resolve it, but I don't like the idea of my webscanner being disabled, since the last 4 times I got infected, were through my browser.

Also a note, brief if you like, of what you personally think of that antivirus program, and firewall, the combination for you and how it has been running so far, the overall performance, etc

Actually, there is such a program. Its called Camstudio, its free, and it allows you to select an area of your screen, and will record everything that happens in that area until you click stop. By default, it saves as a AVI file, but also includes a utility to turn the AVI into an animated gif

As for pics of my AV and F/W, please see the attached. Our company uses Trend Micro OfficeScan, and I personally use Sygate Personal Firewall. I can't say enough about either! Officescan is a corporate version, so it may not be for you, but if this security engine says anything about their other products, then HOLY COW. The detection rate on this app is amazing.

I won't go on about Sygate... I think I remember having this turned down on a recommendation to you before. However, it beats the hell out of ZA, IMO.

 

Not sure what you mean with the ZA and Avast combo problem.
I've been running both with updated versions of each, as they come out, for a long time now.

Both work fine for me, as far as I am aware. Bazza

When you installed ZoneAlarm, it didn't come up asking to disable the Webshield? mine did, even when I went from the free version of ZA to the Pro 14 day trial install.

Zone alarm recognised me as having a virus detector installed sort off, but it could not detect it running, in the monitor window of ZA, so I`ve de-installed both for the time being until I can find a resolution, and a new combo, I wrote to ZA and Avast, but no reply, not suprising as they would get thousands of e-mails each day, I just couldn't work out why....

Luthius is right, there is a conflict between ZA Pro (not free) and Avast WebShield. For more info, check out the Avast forum. I posted this qustion in April:

"If read correctly, if the FREE version of ZoneAlarm is being used, then one does not have to worry about the WebShield conflict and can click "No" on the disable dialog. Correct?"

The reply was:

- ZONE ALARM - AVAST Web Shield compatibility dialogue - Install/Update Question - YES or NO

If you are using ZoneAlarm Free you should click NO, because privacy features are not present in ZoneAlarm Free this will not turn off web shield transparent mode proxy.

This is what I must have done, a long time ago.
I can't remember, as I have been using the ZA/Avast combo for a long time, now.

Ages ago, I did try the trial version of ZA Pro, but now I always install ZA Free on anyone asking for help, with Avast. Will have to take more notice next time. Bazza

This is a relatively new free firewall. It is a full version firewall. Works very well for me.
