Pin mod?

I have a Compaq Evo N600C 1.2ghz, 512mb.
I was wondering if there was a CPU pin mod I use take advantage of to sup this machine up?

90% of OEM machines have striped down hardware and no oc Capablity

you can try SET-FSB but its chip support is limited and you run the risk of killing you're hardware

 

A pin mod is a hardware mod. It has nothing to do with OEM or not. My compaq evo has "no oc capability" but its running 1.6Ghz 400FSB @ 2.26Ghz 533FSB via pin mod / PLL mod.

Post what CPU sockets they use, what FSB is stock, and I will see what I can dig up for you.

It isn't what I needed, but no worries. Apparently both laptops are already running at max FSB, so even if a pinmod does exist it would not help you.

 

I must inquire why ...
even if you manage to find a way at most you are probably going to get only a extra 50-100MHz out of it hardly enough to warrant the effort unless you are just messing with it

In most cases pin mods are used to up the FSB one step. For example my evo has a 1.7Ghz dothan core in it, stock at 400FSB (100x4). Giving you the summed up stock spec of 100 x 17 = 1.7Ghz. Modding give me a FSB of 533 (133x4) giving me the summed up overclocked spec of 133 x 17 = 2.26Ghz, a 560Mhz overclock. Far more then the 50-100Mhz you quoted, and this is often the case. Most pin mods result in 25%+ overclocks easily. Perhaps you're thinking a pin mod is multiplier based instead of FSB based?
