I'm running Vista ultimate, with a Linksys router connected to Hughesnet dsl modem & I'm gettng 1.5mbs on download speed. I disconnected the router and connected directly to the modem, and I still get a latency of 700 and above, the average 1500.

2nd boot is win XP Media Center Edition, I have F.E.A.R on this os, and have the same problem, the ping is at 800 & above. Nothing close to 100.

Could this be a setting on my nic, or is this a (n) isp problem? Anyone have a clue??

Thanks for any help in advance.:major

There are plenty of factors that effect your speeds.. it could be the quality of service your getting from the phone co, the copper lines, the load on the servers your connecting to, the overall traffic on the net, ect.. there usually is no one fix for these questions... you can try sampling you speeds over days and at different times to get a base line, then contact your ISP and have them look at your situation - especially if you have some data to back it up.
