This is stupid unless you are me but I'm sitting here and have a wild hair hey let me ping a site so I do google.com ping nothing lost, note: able to browse everything, next pinged time.com destination unreachable, next pinged cnn.com request timed out, next pinged comedycentral.com request timed out. next pinged yahoo.com nothing lost. Is there an issues or should ping just be used in dire times? I am able to browse every site that was pinged.:confused

Generally, when you set up a site now days you set up the server or firewall to not answer pings. Pings now days have been abused and can even cause Denial of Service (see Ping of Death) so most sites do not echo pings..

This is the other info on the hosts page:
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
That is the exact format and it also has example above it. Does this have anything to do with anything, for my future reference. Not familiar with the programming language so I do not know if the number sign excludes.

Dell Vostro 1000. This is a laptop that had a nasty, nasty virus at one time and is slower going to some sites more so than others, enough to be noticeable.
