Pink vertical line down monitor screen

I was playing a game today and had had the monitor on for about an hour. Suddenly a pink line appeared in the middle of the screen. I've tried turning off/on the monitor, and the pink line not only continues to appear, but shows up before the rest of the image. Tried Auto-adjust and the pink line stays while everything else turns black for a few moments. I've had problems with another of these monitors before, but not like this. I haven't tried changing cables, swaping computers and ect to see if this is a video-card based problem or what, so I was hoping someone else had an idea what happened. Monitor is a Sharp LL-172C-B, video card a ATI 850 pro AGP

 

have you tried degaussing your monitor?

 

I don't think I can do that, Turning it on and off doesn't work, and there's no menu button. It's an LCD monitor.

Undead pixel didn't appear to work, even after several hours of testing. It seemed to be focused on singular or small clusters of pixels, but in my case an entire row of pixels is a strange color. The row is semi-translucent however, and doesn't appear on an all white background. The size of the line does not also change when I switch monitor resolutions. Using the same computer and cable I switched in a different monitor (same model) and it worked fine, so I think the problem is within this specific monitor.

 

if its under warranty, return it. you can also try to "massage" the pixels back to life; ive heard that can work
