Planning to change my video card. HELP!

I'm still new to this forum..i hope you will help me in my problem. I plan to change the video card in my pc. What i have now is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 240.. here are the specs of my computer:

CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 250 Processor
MOTHERBOARD: ASUSTeK Computer INC. M4N68T-M-LE-V2
RAM: 4.00 GB
HDD: WDC WD10 EALX-009BA0 SCSI Disk Device

I'm having problems in my computer..esp on playing videos and games. Whenever i go to youtube or watch a movie in my pc, it usually lags..my screen just freezes and the sound freezes,too. sometimes the sound just goes on..yet the screen freezes and the only way i can fix this is by restarting my computer. I've tried playing lol and hon, but still no use. my screen freezes and i can't enjoy my game i want my computer to be of the best performance..i've tried cleaning my system unit already..still the problem persists. so now i'm thinking that the video card may not be compatible with my motherboard..that's why i'm planning to change it. any suggestions? pls respond..thanks..

The first thing to try is going to www.nvidia.com to download and install the latest driver(s) for your card.

If this does not solve the problem, it's possible the video card has a conflict with the motherboard. Although this is rare, I had it happen once when I installed an ATI card in a board that was Intel-based.

If you decide to replace the video card, I would go with an ATI-based one. ATI video cards generally work better with AMD-based systems.

I got the same, read here:http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=239588
and solved it replacing the NVIDIA graphic board with another brand.
