Play off time! :)

Since the NBA playoffs are happily underway, I thought it'd be fun to have a thread about them. We never talk sports here

Besides, I'm sure that every fan base has some thing that's unique to them, sets them apart from other fan bases in the same sport, and it might be fun to find out how that extremely annoying, horribly obnoxious group of people over there look at themselves. So here we go:

You know you're a Laker fan if...

...fans of other teams are constantly amazed and surprised to discover that you actually care abut basketball and have some knowledge of the game.

...you fear wearing your team's colors in public in Utah, Boston, and Portland. No one has that same concern about Los Angeles, not even Boston.

...watching your number one super-star player get injured makes you shrug, at most. Hearing a rumor that your second or third best player is injured will on the other hand send you into near panic.

...you fully expect to win against the Nuggets, Celtics, Cavaliers, or Magic, while losing to the Bobcats or Clippers doesn't surprise you in the least.

...you can't even be bothered to be surprised anymore whenever you hear that your main scorer has gone through an entire game without getting a single free throw attempt.

...when your team is down by 6 with less than two minutes left in the fourth, losing enters your mind only as a distant possibility, if at all.

...a second round exit from the playoffs is a disappointment.

Your turn! What do the fans of your teams do, that's different from other fan bases, and to the rest of us looks really weird?

I'm not giving a basketball based answer as I only comment on proper sports. WHOAH! Put the sword away, Mims, I'm just kidding.....
Anyway, my superteam, Newcastle (proper football) has the best and loyallest supporters in England. The Toon Army has a strange habit of attending football matches semi naked i.e. no tops at all, even in sub zero temperatures. As far as I know, we (not me personally) are the only oddballs to do this en masse.
HOWWAY THE MAGS!!

 

Whatever --- not that into basketball. Now I get to watch the Brewers limp through another season. :cry

 

I have Swedish friends who support Newcastle. Please don't ever tell them about the shirtlessness tradition! uke

 

Totally true, Mims. Newcastle have a huge following in Scandanavia. Can't imagine why. My best guess is that they feel an affinity with the place, seeing as some of their Viking ancestors settled in the north east of England after there was nothing left to steal or burn.
Loveable rogues, those Norsemen, eh?

Topless Swedes? OMG that's put images in my head. The Swedish ladies (proper) football team.....full time.....and they swap shirts with the Danish ladies (proper) football team..... :drool

 

And we take pride in that!

Unfortunately, I don't follow basketball. All I know about my local pro team, The Newcastle Falcons, is that they are coached by Fab Flournoy and they win everything. (Yay!!)
