Playback of .SHN audio files

I can't seem to find anything that will play .SHN audio/music files. I converted 'em to .MP3, but I wanted to compare the quality if .SHN vs .MP3 (converting to MP3 was a nightmare). I have the KLite Mega Pack installed, and I cannot play .SHN files. I really do not want to install WinAMP or some other player just so I can install a plugin for that player, just so I can compare the quality between a converted .SHN and a true .SHN.

(I downloaded some LEGAL music from etree in .SHN format before I knew that .SHN was so un-user friendly )

I am not sure if this will serve your purpose.

Shorten® (.shn) is an audio compression scheme that is used to compress audio (.wav) files losslessly. This means that after you decompress a Shorten file, everything that was in the original .wav is there. This is unlike MP3, in which the compression step throws away information that can never be recovered.

With Shorten32, you can decompress the file to a WAV file with no loss and then play it.
