    Hi,
I have ripped some CDs to my hard drive that are in the DTS format [used for some enhanced CDs and some DVDs] The problem is despite having K Lite Mega Codec installed and AC3 filter they will not play in MediaMonkey where all my other music is catalogued and played from. I have tried converting the files with both MediaMonkey and external converters with no luck. Although the files appear converted they still won't play.
I can however play both unconverted and converted files using Windows Media Player but really want all my music on Media Monkey as it has the best library function I have seen.
I have tried the Media Monkey forum but drew a blank and wondered if anyone here could help.
    Regards Alex.

i'm surprised that you were able to play them in media player. I've never got that to work. I too am interested in this thread. Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I'm gonna keep an eye out.

    Hi Smokingun,
To play the files in Windows media Player just install ac3 filter onto your system.
Or if you already have the K Lite Mega Codec pack then you can go to start/all programmes/ K Lite Codek Pack and click on it. A drop down menu will appear and you need to click on Configuration. Another drop down menu and you need to click on ffdshow audio decoder and a box will open on desk top.
In the main window which is on the right will be a list of Formats and Decoders.
Go to the very bottom one which is Uncompressed Disabled and click on the word Disabled which will then show an arrow. Click on the arrow to reveal a drop down menu and select All Supported. Click apply then OK and exit the programme. You should then be able to use your files but as yet not in MediaMonkey.
If you don't have it I would recommend K Lite Mega Codec as it will enable a lot of files. It also comes with Media Player Classic which will also play DTS files once you have done either of the above options.
    Hope this helps Alex

Well this posting is 4 years old (dated 2009 and it's now 2013) and one would think that if such a thing was true then it may be even more so then. But now in ver. 2.6 of the AC3 filter and no, simply installing it does not play DTS files in any of my players (mainly MediaMonkey) so obviously there must be more to it than just installing it.

    Hi pintree,
When I had the problem I followed the instructions that I posted and I could then play the DTS files in some players but not MediaMonkey. Since my last post I haven't tried to play any DTS files in MediaMonkey. From what I remember I found an app to convert them into a flac file but I am very sorry but I can't remember what the app was. All I do know is that it would have been a free app as I don't buy apps as I can usually find a freebie that does the job.
I hope this helps in some small way.
    Regards Alex.

    Hi,
I'm not sure if you have solved your problem but if not then a free app called SUPER may help. Using SUPER I converted some DTS files that I could not get to play in MediaMonkey despite installing the AC3 plugin. After converting the files to flac they played in MediaMonkey with no problems.
