    Please review my logs.

I believe I did the "Read me and Run Me First". I have attached the 4 files requested with log data.

My symptoms started with my computer not shutting down, and just hanging. My Windows update no longer seems to work and just continues to say "installing" and never installing. And generally, my computer always seems to be running something as the fans are going.

Then it got worse. My Task Manager stopped opening. I would do the ctrl, alt, delete and choose task manager, but the pop-up window didn't come up. Also, my Internet Explorer would no longer open (I would get the close down, pop up). Very strange!

After running the programs listed in the "Read me Run Me First" my task manager works now and a brand new Internet Explorer icon appeared on my desktop and it now works. I thought the thing with the new IE icon appearing was weird.

However, I still can't intall new Windows updates (I am running Vista 32bit) as it continues to hang. And it seems that I still have trouble shutting down my computer as about 30% of the time it hangs while "logging off".

I wonder if Vista has trouble with Ad-aware as some of this seemed to occur when I upgraded from 2008 to the Anniversary addition. I uninstalled 2008 completely (I think) and then installed the Anniversary addition.

I also recently defraged and scanned my hard disk. I also ran a AVG free edition.

    Your help is appreciated!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Based on your logs which are all clean, you are not having malware problems. I suggest that you post in the Software Forum about problems with Windows Update and shutdowns. You may want to try uninstalling Ad-Aware and/or AVG8 just to see what effect it has.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
      • Delete the C:\combofix folder from combofix (if it exists)
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    7. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
