Please help a clueless lady with wireless connection...

We were with vigin for our broadband and have just yesterday changed to sky for broadband. I have unplugged our old virgin router and connected the new sky one. The home computer is working fine and connecting to the the internet through an ethernet cable no probs. My problem is with our laptop. It used to connect when we were with virgin but now i can't get it to work.
I will try and explain what i have tried.
under control panel -network connections -wireless network connection it says not connected, firewalled.
When i double click this icon no wireless networks come up.

on the bottom toolbar we have an icon for 'think vantage access connections' when i open this under connection status it says radio off. if i power on the wireless radio it changes to radio powered on but not associated.
if i click on find WLAN it picks up the network that my main computer is on and others in the neighbourhood, but when i highlight ours and click connect it comes up with a box saying attmepting to connect with a green tick next to applying wireless settings but a red cross next to waiting for association.
Anyone any ideas???

Suggest you refer this directly to Sky for service assistance. Point being, things worked fine before, but not now with their modem - router installed.

No two devices of different make and model are ever likely to have the same firmware adjustment setup, especially when used by two different backbone provider services, e.g. SKY and Virgin.

Since your laptop is able to pickup other radiated services, it seems the new device may not be radiating at all. Your best bet is to have their service technician come and check this out and to make sure the router's firmware is correctly setup to support your laptop.
