What are your system specs, and how do they stack up to the game requirements? Does it happen in any other games?

What you're describing sounds a lot like a graphics problem... what graphics card do you have? Do you have the latest driver for it? Oh, and while we're talking hardware, are you on a laptop or desktop?

umm i probably sound like a gimp but i dont know how to find that stuff.. the game used to work before i got my computer upgraded to windows 7 so i think the system requirements should enough. no it doesnt happen for other games, only the sims
    Edit:
i just found all this stuff, i hope its what you meant.

Did you have Vista before you upgraded, or XP? Did you reinstall the game and after the upgrade? If other games are fine, Sims is the next logical place to look to find out why it's crashing. Have you uninstalled the game completely and reinstalled it? If not, try that, it often helps when a single gmae is misbehaving and all other games are fine.

You're right that if the game worked before you changed over to Windows 7, then your hardware is capable of running it just fine, so that's not the problem. If you want an easy way to find out what's inside your case though, you can use Speccy. If we need any info about the hardware, it will be able to tell us. :)

When I try to look up that video card, it comes up as an integrated video chip for laptops... do you have an Acer monitor plugged in to the laptop, or are you on a desktop? If you're on a desktop, please download Speccy from the link I posted earlier, and install and run it. Then go to "File" pick "Save snapshot..." and save it somewhere where you can find it easily. Then compress it to a .zip file and attach that to your next post. We can get more video card details from that snapshot. :)

Yep, you did it right. :)

Unfortunately we're running into two problems. The first one is that there is no information at all about your computer on Acer's website. :(

The second is that there doesn't seem to be any video drivers for windows 7 available for your graphics card. If that's the case that would explain what's going on, at least if The Sims Deluxe is the most graphics-intensive game you play.

Alternatively, you might need to install DirectX 10 on your system, if the game can't use 11. What are the game's system requirements? I tried to look them up, but I'm having a hard time finding them. All that comes up is "The Sims: Busting Out", which looks like a fun game, but it's not helpful for your situation.

    Awesome, thanks. :)

Were you on Windows XP before you moved to Win7? Games made for Windows 95/98 sometimes have serious problems on 7, unfortunately. I would try a reinstall, and when you do, right-click on the installation file and pick "Properties" from the menu that comes up. Then go to the Compatibility tab and tell your computer to run the installation in compatibility mode for Windows 98 or Windows XP (if one doesn't work, try the other). After installation, right-click on the shortcut on your desktop, go to Properties and the Compatibility tab again, and set compatibility mode to the one you installed it in. Click Apply, click okay. You may also have to run the as Administrator, since older versions of Windows automatically gave you full Administrator rights, while 7 won't do that.

I've been able to make older PC games work on Win7 with that method in the past. If that doesn't work... you may need to find an XP system to play on. That would suck. :(

Sorry for the double post, but I lost my edit button.

It's getting late over here and I'm exhausted and need sleep, so I'm going to take off and go to bed now. If the compatibility mode thing doesn't work, post back with details on any error messages or problems you run into, I'll see them when I check the forum tomorrow and check back with you. :)
