I am using Norton 360 and when I scan my files I can see Norton 360 scnaning the below file
d:\FAUXVIRUS\carny_ride.exe (d:\ is my windows XP drive)
I did everything I can to remove this folder and file but I can see such a entry in the d: drive.
    1. I scanned using Panda Active Scan
    2. AVG Scnanner
    3. Macafeee
    4. Spy-bot
    5. PC Tools – Adware
When I connected to the internet and system is idle I am getting spyware and Malware downloaded to my computer.
Any help is much appreciated to delete this file and folder.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

I can download the programs but when I try to execute them I am getting an error saying “Access dined” also I can’t even run regedit and getting an error saying are you sure to make this entry.

One more thing I can’t right click on the my computer and go to the system settings and I notices System Restore can’t be turned off and it’s disabled.

Do you think is this a root-kit malware that hide from the system because I ran the Panda Active scan and nothing detected.

I did the above steps in Safe mode and Normal mode as Admin and My Profile

Did you attempt to run every one of the tools requested? Including MGtools???? Have you tried running the scans with your cable to the internet physically unplugged and after terminating all unnecessary applications including protection software.

We did not ask you to run the registry editor anyway. At least not yet. ;)

Once we get to the bottom of what your problem is, we will better understand what may be causing this. If System Restore is already disabled, that means you have no restore points to use as a fall back.

I cannot say until we get some logs. At this point it could be a Windows system problem and or malware. You could have any number of infections which could cause problems like this. A Win32.Bagle infection could cause similar problems but even with it, some of the scans will run especially if you renamed the downloaded installer files and also possibly rename their executable program files after installing them. This was mentioned in the READ & RUN ME instructions.
