    Hello, I use firefox and my bookmarks keep disapearing. This has happened in the past and it's a pain to re bookmark them. Where on my computer did they go!!!!!!

    Thanks, Tara

    Sometimes when you close Firefox, it isn't removed as a running process. In fact, multiple instances of FF can be seen running in Task Manager (you can locate Task Manager by pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE). When you close FF and it is not ended as a process in Task Manager, re-starting FF (without a reboot) just loads a new default profile. Now exactly what is preserved from the old profile and what isn't I can't say; but if this happens, your bookmarks are "lost" - FF essentially created a new profile with default bookmarks.

    One of the first things to do, is to close FF, and make sure that there are no instances of FF running in Task Manager by closing them down manually. Then, start ProfileManager so that a dialog pops up asking which profile to use. (TO star Profile Manager, open the Windows "Start" menu, select "Run" (on Windows Vista, use "Start Search" or enable the Run box, as described here) then type and enter the following:

    * firefox.exe -profilemanager

    If there's more than one (and they could all be called Default), then it is likely that the old bookmarks reside in one of those profiles. Check each one out in turn, but be sure again to close all instances of FF running in Task Manager before opening the next profile via Profile Manager.

    Re: Lost Firefox Bookmarks

    I'm not sure how to find your bookmarks but for future reference you can use this mozilla "add-on" to backup your bookmarks and many other things: Bookmark Backup v0.4.6

    Additionally, if you really want to get serious and backup of everything in Firefox then I'd suggest you use this: Firefox Environment Backup Extension (FEBE)

    This Firefox Environment Backup Extension backs up and restores your extensions, themes, and (optionally) your bookmarks, preferences, as well as cookies.

    Good Luck!

    For Firefox you can try this bookmark add on Foxmarks
    It's synchronizes your Firefox bookmarks between two computers or you can also log in to my.foxmarks.com to manage your bookmarks from any computer. Or log in and get them back.
