I am trying desperately to fix my friend's computer for him. When I got it, it was so full of pop-ups and viruses that it barely functioned. I followed the whole spyware tutorial, and removed over 20 viruses and hundreds of pieces of spyware. But every time I restarted, they would all just come right back. So I eventually gave up and did a system restore to factory settings (its an HP pavillion) and it seemed to be working ok. Now all the scans come out clean, but the computer is still slow and crashes non-stop, especially in IE. In safe mode it works fine (and that's how i was able to write this email), and I went through all the startup programs and everything seems fine. Here is my Hijack this file, if anyone has any tips or help, it would be most appreciated. And if anyone has any questions about chassidic or orthodox judaism, or judaism in general, that's what I can help you with. Rabbi Simcha, at your service. Thanks again for any help or suggestions.

Edit by chaslang: Unrequested inline log removed

Again, I went through the whole spyware removal tutorial, to no avail. Shalom!

Sorry but you did not follow all of the READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal sticky thread. Please run ALL steps including the online scans which you did not run. Also run anything else you may have skipped and run them in the order given.

PLEASE DO NOT POST HJT logs unless they are requested and then they must be attachments. Read the announcements and sticky threads.

In a brief look at your log I did not notice anything obvious but maybe the online scans can find something hidden. Other than that, it could be just too much stuff running for the your PC. What is the CPU speed and how much memory does it have?

Sorry, I ran all the things before the system restore. I ran them again and came up with nothing. The system is a Celeron 2.2Ghz with 248MB of RAM, and it takes forever on startup and crashes in IE nonstop. Sorry about posting the logfile wrong, I'll wait until you tell me to next time. Since the system runs fine in safe mode, it must me either a driver problem or a startup issue, right? Any suggestions on what to do next? Thanks again for your help.

You would be better off working this problem in the Software Forum since it does not appear to be malware related. You could try a defrag and also disabling certain startup items to see if any of them are causing you problems though. You may also want to run sfc /scannow from a command prompt.
