    Hiya,

I unfortunately have been infected with CP1041.nls
It's disconnecting me from the internet and now my pc randomly reboots

I have Windows XP Service Pack 2

I have downloaded HJT, Icesword etc but am a bit unsure how to use them.

I'm aware that I may need a clean ndis.sys file.

Can anyone help before I resort to formatting my HDD, sigh

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

Yes you have one of the latest infections going around where some of your Windows OS files can be infected. ndis.sys is one of them. Also this is typically seen with an infection that inserts itself into your LSP chain. Make sure you attach all the requested logs so we can work up a proper fix for your problems.

Ok, I'm having a few problems, I've managed to upload the CounterSpy File. This forum says its too big to upload the bdscan.txt (328kb)

I also couldn't save the Panda file due to it not being able to connect to the internet. I finish the scan then when you want to see the report it says that it is unable to connect to the internet :(

Compress the BitDefender log into a ZIP file and upload that.

Also make sure you complete the directions in step 7 of the READ ME and attach a log from a properly installed and renamed HijackThis.
