My husband bought this computer from a friend about two years ago...We just turned it on and this computer is so very messed up. I can normally fix simple things but this computer is just completely full of viruses....! I have installed spyware tools, antiviruses and nothing has helped. I have read some of your threads and downloaded the HJT and copied and pasted my results down below. If someone could point me in the right direction and tell me pretty much step by step what to do I would be extremely grateful! Some of my problems are constent pop ups, my homepage is always changing 9mostly to findthewebsiteyouneed.com and when I started avast antiviruse software it said this process is missing c:\windows\system32\dwdsregt.exe. Thank you very much in advance.....brittney

Edit: removed HJT log for guide below to be run

    Hi and Welcome to Majorgeeks!

One major problem is you have 3 Antivirus applications in AVG, AVAST and Norton all running at once this will cause many variable issues with a PC from conflicts to errors in files to generall PC slowness, if one of them is paid for keep that and remove the rest, but only keep one.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

    Computer still acting up.

Hi, my computer is still acting up. I followed all the instructions in the READ AND RUN ME FIRST thread. I wasn't able to even open the website to download bitdefender or panda active scan. Now my computer is acting up....if I try to open a website it will let me get on the page but then it will just completely shut down internet explorer. For some reason it works with majorgeeks.com but that is the only one right now. I will try to put on the texts that are recommended......please tell me what else I need to do. thank you very much.

    Hubsgurl15,

The first thing I notice is that your OS is way out of date which represents a major security risk. Once we get your computer cleaned you need to update to Service Pack 2 and Internet Explorer 7 because right now you are open to many infections.

Before we begin, you need to relocate Hijack This to a safer location such as C:\Program Files\HJT.

Because it has been a period of time, I would like you to run a Panda scan and scan with HJT from the new location and attach both logs to your next post so we can begin a fix.

My computer won't let me even bring up the website for panda scan. If I try to bring up a website it just closes out that window......?!?!?!? what should I do in this case?

What browser are you trying to load the scan in? If you havn't yet I would recommend updating to Internet Explorer 7.
