    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

You have a load of different problems. This make take a few different procedures and some additional scans to fix. You will also probably need to reinstall Google Desktop after we get done fixing all you problems.

First look in Add/Remove programs for PestTrap and unnstall if found.

Start by downloading two tools we will need

    - Process Explorer

    - Pocket KillBox

Extract them to their own folder somewhere that you will be able to locate them later.

IMPORTANT: You should print or save the below locally, so you can refer to them while offline. You must exit all browsers before running the below steps and it would be best if you actually physically unplug your cable to the internet, reboot, and do not run anything but what I give you to do. Also it would be good to exit all processes and items in your System tray.

Do the above before continuing! Okay unplug your cable now.

Make sure you have rebooted in Normal Mode (do not open any other processes)

    - Run Process Explorer

In the top section of the Process Explorer screen double click on winlogon.exe to bring up the winlogon.exe properties screen. Click on the Threads tab at the top.

Once you see this screen click on each instance of winred32.dll once and then click the kill button. After you have killed all of the winred32.dll under winlogon click ok. (If you do not find the dll, just continue on.)

Now repeat the above step for the below two DLLs:
    cfgmngr32

Next double click on explorer.exe and again click once on each instance of winred32.dll and kill it. (If you do not find the dll, just continue on.)

Now repeat the above step for the below two DLLs:
    cfgmngr32

    Now just exit Process Explorer.

Please run HijackThis and click on the Open the Misc Tools Section button on the open page. Then select Open process manager on the left-hand side. Look for the following process (or processes) and one at a time kill them by selecting it and then click Kill process. Then click yes.
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\SMANTE~1\RGSVR3~1.EXE
    C:\PROGRA~1\SKS~1\notepad.exe

After killing all the above processes, click Back.
Then please click Scan and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

NOTE: HJT will popup an error about the AppInit_DLLs line. Ignore it and click OK to continue.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop.
Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files"
Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

    del %windir%\temp\win*.*
    del %windir%\g*.dll

    exit

Now run Pocket Killbox by doubleclicking on killbox.exe
Choose Tools > Delete Temp Files and click Delete Selected Temp Files.
Then after it deletes the files click the Exit (Save Settings) button.

    Select:
    • Delete on Reboot
    • then Click on the All Files button.
    • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    C:\WINDOWS\g43249593.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winred32.dll
    • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
    • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).
If Killbox does not reboot just reboot your PC yourself.

Now attach a new HJT log and tell me how the steps went.

Now Run the below procedure and attach the newfiles.txt log.
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Looks like you missed a few lines last time!

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {873eb32d-ae1a-4183-89bd-45a77f761be4} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ixt0.dll
    O2 - BHO: Accoona Search Assistant - {944864A5-3916-46E2-96A9-A2E84F3F1208} - (no file)

Let's work up a new fix but first a question. Did you install PC Mighty Max yourself? I have seen this a few time and in each case the user did not install it and did not want it. If you did not install it, check to see if it can be uninstalled via Add/Remove programs. Many people report that it cause problems on there systems and that it can be difficult to impossible to remove. It can also interfere with the ability of System Restore to work properly.

Make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).

Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {873eb32d-ae1a-4183-89bd-45a77f761be4} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ixt0.dll
    O2 - BHO: Accoona Search Assistant - {944864A5-3916-46E2-96A9-A2E84F3F1208} - (no file)
    O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
    O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: cfgmngr32 - C:\WINDOWS\g31733015.dll (file missing)
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: winred32 - winred32.dll (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete (tell me which you find and delete and which you do not)
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ixt0.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\compstuic.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\bccdd.tmp
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\bccdd.ini
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\bccdd.ini2

If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try again. Other wise open Task Manager and kill the process if running then delete the file.

Now if running Win XP goto c:\windows\Prefetch and delete all files in this folder.
Now run Ccleaner (installed while running the READ ME FIRST).

Now reboot in normal mode and post a new HJT log.

Now attach a new log from ShowNew!

Make sure you tell me how things are working now.

Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore, reboot, and re-enable system restore per step 1 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or WinMe.

I did install Mighty Max, but then uninstalled. I guess it was never completely removed. I followed the steps and ixt0.dll and compstuic.dll was not present. After reboot in normal mode, error when opened IE with message that the page is blocked (windows update page) and need to install the program. I did not install. Also I changed my homepage to Google, but it goes to sysprotectionpage.net. I have a system alert in my systray that wants me to install software to manage popups (OHPE ver 4.12_23). Again thank you for your time and help. I look forward to your analysis. Attached is the HJT log and Shownew txt.

You need to look harder or look for similar names and tell me what you find because ShowNew is showing the file in abbreviated DOS format. See the below snippet from ShowNew. compst~1.dll is an abbreviation for your compstuic.dll file or another similarly named file.
Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Now reboot your PC and check to see if a folder named C:\Program Files\PC MightyMax exists.

Make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).

Please run HijackThis and click on the Open the Misc Tools Section button on the open page. Then select Open process manager on the left-hand side. Look for the following process (or processes) and one at a time kill them by selecting it and then click Kill process. Then click yes.
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\issearch.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\isnotify.exe

After killing all the above processes, click Back.
Then please click Scan and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PCMMRealtime] C:\Program Files\PC MightyMax\pcmm.exe /S

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete
    :
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\issearch.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\isnotify.exe

If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try again. Other wise open Task Manager and kill the process if running then delete the file.

Now if running Win XP goto c:\windows\Prefetch and delete all files in this folder.
Now run Ccleaner (installed while running the READ ME FIRST)
    .

Now reboot in normal mode and post a new HJT log.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now.

Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore, reboot, and re-enable system restore per step 1 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or WinMe.

So far, so good. There is a PC Mighty Max directory. There was isnotify.exe but no issearch.exe. I will update tonight how it runs today. Thank you again for your help. I have attached the HJT log.

So far popups are gone and messages have stopped. The only problem that I still have is I have been alerted by Symantec that I have Adware.purityscan and Trojan.Zlob. I applaud the great work. I do not know if there is anyway of removing these problems, but you have done an excellent job so far. Thank you very much and please let me know if if there is anything else I can do. I will not disable Systme Restore and restart untill I see your reply. Thanks again.

Run this SpywareQuake & SpyFalcon Removal Procedure and attach the smitfiles.txt log.

Now go back to step 1 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points. Then reboot and enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

Are you still having any messages about infections? If so, you must attach log that shows exactly where the files are and what their names are.

If you are not having any other malware problems, you should work thru the below link:

How to Protect yourself from malware!

I will be on vacation until 7/31/06 so I'm giving you a bunch of things to do.
One of the other Mods or Admins here may be able to pickup where I leave off.
