Superantispyware has stopped x3 and or desktop/mouse locks up. Last message after 28 minutes "Corupt File - the file or directory C: is corrupt and unreadable. Pls run chkdsk utility."

Ran Chkdsk utility - "file seg 93354 is corrupt. 447 very large files processed. chkdsk cannot continue in read-only mode."

I explored the system windows but can't figure out how to change from read-only and don't know what files to change.

I have otherwise followed the Malware Removal instructions to the T. I have all of the prescribed malware removal software downloaded, with mgtools in the program file and the others on the desktop.

    Please help.

Just skip the superantispyware step for now then and continue on with the rest.

I was able to run all five of the malware removal softwares. Things seem to be working normally now. I am moving onto the 'How to protect'...

Attached are my logs. I will send the fifth from SAS separately.

I ran them a second time because of an additional alert received - it yielded only 10 adware cookies.

I can never thank you enough for this website, your wisdom and responsiveness and your tough love. This is the second time I have been able to resurrect my laptop!!!! Very much love and appreciation goes out to you and your team. Thanks clang and kestrel.

Please direct me if you will to how I can secure my wireless network - I use a Linksys router.

Please do not move on to the Final cleanup instructions until Kes has a chance to review your logs. It is fine to read the " How to protect yourself" but wait for additional instructions. ;)

Your HJT log is missing, so please go to C:\MGTools\analyse.exe and run it. Attach the log.

Attached are HJT log(s). Don't ask.

    Cheers!

Something to ask about in the networking forum perhaps ;)

Can you re-run Malware Bytes in NORMAL mode and attach the log?

    Also attach the SAS log:
You actually attached the executable for rootrepeal, I need the log not the program itself.

    Download and run OTM.

Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    Code:
    :reg
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{5C255C8A-E604-49b4-9D64-90988571CECB}]

    :files
    c:\programdata\STOPzilla!
    C:\Windows\System32\drivers\kgpcpy.cfg
    C:\Windows\Temp\TMP000000A18BABEBC410F46950
    C:\Windows\Temp\TMP00000003B01EEE2EB54F4E66

    :Commands
    [emptytemp]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Push the large http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2782/4174320048_f01c448b32_o.png button.
    • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it into notepad, save it as something appropriate and attach it into your next reply.

NOTE: If you are unable to copy/paste from this window (as will be the case if the machine was rebooted), open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and attach the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Run Ccleaner. Only use the Run Cleaner button. Do not run anything else on any other forms.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

What are you using for antivirus?

Instructions to run OTM, C Cleaner and MGTools\GetLogs.bat completed. Attached are OTM and MG Tools.zip logs. Thanks so much.

FYI Computer went black once during process. Got pop-up "Windows security problems. Click here."

Needed reminding to uncheck User Account again to run these.

I planned to install an antivirus after cleared by MG good-to-go to avoid inteference with instructions but will review and take MG advice on freeware.

    You forgot this bit:

Can you re-run Malware Bytes in NORMAL mode and attach the log?

    Also attach the SAS log:

How are things running for you?
