I hope someone can help me ASAP with this problem I'm having w/my computer and backing up to CD's.

I used to always be able to back up my QuickBooks to CD in the D drive. However, now when the CD writing wizard comes up it says "Insert a writable disc to continue." "there is no disc in the drive, Please insert a writable CD into drive D:\."

Of course I have a CD in the drive, but I keep getting the same message with brand new CD's also. It seems like I don't have the CD writing wizard anymore on my computer. Is that possible?

Can someone tell me how I can access my CD writing wizard and try to figure this problem out. I really need to back up our business w/the XP CD writing wizard.

I have a Compaq Presario 6350US. I'm using XP sp2, IE 7, I use AVG spyware and virus control. I also run SpyBot and Ad-Aware regularly. My system has plenty of free space. I keep up to date w/Microsoft updates. In fact, I'm wondering if my problem started after one of the updates - but I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not. Also-I just had a new burner installed by a professional.

I had Nero installed last week, but I'm not experience with it at all, and it's much more complicated for me than the old way of using the XP CD writing wizard. Before I had Nero installed, I could just back up in one step - by opening QuickBooks, much simpler for someone like me - who doesn't really know what I"m doing! I just have no idea why I can't get the wizard to work..

I hope someone can understand my explanation and give me some good, simple advice. Also-if someone on here happens to have QuickBooks Pro, maybe you can better understand what I'm trying to explain.

Thanks in advance for any help and advice you can give me.

Go back to your expert and ask him (her) to explain the difference between Nero, which is far superior, and Windows CD writing, which he has probably (correctly) turned off. You won't regret the change.
