Please Help With CD Rom Problem

Hi, I'm now here and am hoping someone can help me. I can no longer burn CD's or DVD's. I can listen to a CD or watch a movie but my pc does not recognize a blank disc when I put it in the drive. Has anyone else ever had this problem and what did you do to fix it? I don't know when it started since I hadn't burned anything for a while so I really don't want to do a system restore. I have tried three different kinds of software to see if that could be the problem and they all act the same. It says there is no media in the drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! OK.

If your using XP do this. Thould be simular on other OS's

Go into My Computer and right click on the cd drive, go to properties and then hardware.
Double click the cd drive in the list. You should also see your harddrive and floppy in the list.

You will get another window open and click on the general tab. This will tell you if there are any errors. Usually it just says that the device is working properly. Then click on the driver tab. Try and update the driver from here and see if that helps.
