Please help with correcting my screen resolution

I just purchased a new flat screen monitor for my desktop computer.

I have tried every available screen resolution, and none of them make my desktop or windows fit properly on the screen. The main problem is that items like the bottom toolbar with the time, etc. and the desktop icons are off the screen.

When I am using different programs, buttons and things that I need to be able to have access to are off the screen as well.

I tried changed the view percentage, but that really only changed the text size.

I love the picture quality on this new monitor, and have my fingers crossed that someone can offer some help. Thank you for reading this.

 

Note that LCD monitors have a "native" resolution that you should ensure the monitor and graphics solution (card or on-board) should be set to. So what is the monitor brand and model number too?

 

It reads like you need to setup the monitor itself to match the input using the controls built-in, which make/model monitor is it - what buttons does it have, any labels on them?
