Can someone please help with possible malware/virus removal? I have gone through all instructions in the READ Me and attached files for the following:

    - Rogue Killer
    - Hitman Pro
    - MgTools Logg
    - Malware Bytes Log

The issue started some time yesterday when I went to the control panel/System Security/Windows Firewall and noticed that the windows firewall was disabled. When I tried to enable the firewall by clicking on use recommended settings, it displayed the following message:

    - Windows Firewall can't change some of your settings. Error Code 0x80070424.

After that, I immediated updated mcafee and started noticing that I was getting a VirusScan Alert. Currently I have two messages, and it says that the clean failed. One message is for services.tmp (detected as Generic.dx!bfh4) in C:\Windows\System32 and another message is for a folder in \AppData\Local\ (detected as ZeroAccess)

As per the instructions in the READ ME, I hope I have provided as much detail as needed to help me. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system

    Attached is fixlist.txt
    • Save fixlist.txt to your flash drive.
    • You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST64.exe on your flash drive.

    Now re-enter System Recovery Options.
Run FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt).
Please attach this to your next message. (How to attach)

    Now attempt to boot normally.

    -------------------------------

    • Now re-run RogueKiller - no fix just a scan and attach the log.
    • Re-run FRST - no fix, just a scan and attach the log.
    • Let me know how things are running at this point.

I have uploaded the RogueKiller log, FRST log and FRST FixLog for your review. The computer boots up fine, but some thing is still wrong. Please see the attached system security screenshot. I can't seem to start the windows system security center service. It looks like my firewall is missing too. When I try to use recommended settings under windows firewall, it says that it can't change the settings. Thanks!

    • Then make sure the Restart System radio button is enabled.
    • Shutdown any other programs that you are running now before continuing.
    • Now click the Start button.
    • Be patient while the tool repairs the selected items.

There were 2 RogueKiller reports that got generated. The first was generated when I clicked the scan button, and the other was created when I created the delete button. I have attached both for your review. Thanks again a bunch for helping with this!

The attached RogueKiller log file was generated after running the tweaking repair windows tool. The machine started up fine, and the firewall is up and running. However, in the control panel/system and security/action center, I have a security message that says windows defender is turned off. When I click the Turn on now button, it opens windows explorer and takes me to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\Client\4.0.1" rolleyes

Download the below to your desktop BFE.reg
Double click it to allow it to merge with the registry and let me know whether or not you recieve a success message. Reboot the machine.
    Is Windows Defender ok now?

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

The site won't let me upload MGLogs.zip to this thread. It says you have already attached this file. I have tried to rename the file, but that won't work either. Please help.

Click on start > type in services.msc which will bring up a list of services. I want you to tell me what the status says for Windows Defender and also the startup type. If it is stopped, what happens when you click on restart the service?

    • Click start > type gpedit.msc and hit enter.
    • Navigate to the following location Local Computer Policy > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Defender
    • Click on Windows Defender in the pane on the left, on the right you should get all the Group Policies. Look for "Turn off Windows Defender" Double click on it which should bring up another window, allowing you to "Enable" it. Try that and let me know what happens.

I enabled it, and it still doesn't come one. Could it be possible that it isn't coming on because I have superantispyware and Spybot SD running? When i click on windows defender in the control panel, it says the program is truned off and says click here if you would like to turn it on. When i click to turn it on, it says... "The program is blocked by group policy. For more information, contact your system administrator. (Error Code 0x800704ec)"

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
