please help with memory problem

hi all i have an amd 1050 with 384 megs of ram running win. 2k pro the bios are ami .........my problem is that the computer is only reading 128 megs of ram if i set the to optimal setrtings it will read the right amount of ram but will not complete the boot up if i set it to old values it reads 128 and boot normal i kinda sure its just a bios setting that isn't right but i'm not sure what to change i am desprate for help on this one just got it all together and running with one problem RAM.

what motherboard do you have? are the RAM timings set by the SPD?

you might be able to fix it by noting what settings it changes when you select "optimal settings" then resetting the settings and then enabling each setting it changed one by one to see which setting fixes the problem

it may also be your RAM isnt compatible with your board ... some boards are finicky about RAM

 

thanks for the reply pryate it is set tp spd and about a week ago it was showing 384 megs of ram not sure what changes it but last night is was able to get it to show that amount but at the same time the processer was only reading 700 m instad of 10.5 i am completly lost on this one i even tried jumping the cmos a few times to sst the old values but no luck i'm getting desprate.

how much virtual memory do you have?(right click 'my computer'>'properties'>'advanced'>under 'performance' tick 'settings', it will say in the box 'virtual memory' ... and how much space is left in your HDD?

also you may try switching the 2 cards around
