PLEASE help with printer

I'm using a HP Photosmart 7760 printer and lately it has been printing very slowly. I have contacted support and we've gone thru all the trouble shooting steps.. The strange thing is that when we changed the spool setting from "spool for faster printing" to "print directly to printer" it fixed the problem.. but only for a few days .. after that it got slooow again.. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software. I've changed the spool settings back and fourth.. still no fix .. the printer will print a test page from within itself at the right speed but when it comes to sending a document from the pc its no good. I have deleted all the temp files on the pc and ran scan disk and defrag. The support guys say I should pay for an exchange but maybe youz guys have a better idea? Thanks for you help..

are you using usb or parallel port? if it's usb, is it usb 2.0? some printers like mega feeds of data (requiring usb 2.0), so maybe that could be a problem?

 

Thanks for the post.. I'm pretty sure it's USB 2.0.. either way it has worked in the past on this same cable.. any other ideas??

 

Your best option is to try it on another pc.

Do you have any documents sitting in spool waiting to be printed or somehow corrupt? (try removing all documents)

Also, try uninstalling the printer and it's software/drivers and reinstall.
