Please help

Windows System files may be damaged, to attempt a repair go to Start > Run and type cmd
After doing this enter the following two commands in this order, SFC /Purgecache followed by SFC /ScanNow
Performing these operations may take several minutes and will require your Windows XP install disc unless a copy of the i386 folder from an install disc is located on your hard disk (usually c:\i386).

 

I got the below message when I tried to do as you requested. At this point, I have bought a flash drive. I do NOT have recovery disks as I was a total idiot and never made them when I bought this pc last summer. Should I just download the important stuff onto the flash drive and then start over. Can I make recovery disks now? Will the problem I'm having follow me if I download stuff on the flash drive? I just don't know what else to do.

Oh, and I don't know why, but now I cannot get online via normal mode at all. It was spotty before, but not working at all now. My wireless network is not showing at all in normal mode.

 

Shadow, thanks so much for your help. I ended up doing a Recovery and everything seems to be okay now. I have gone through the steps for protecting myself in the future.
