Please Help

Ok Laptop is running XP... My boyfriend doesnt know alot about computers and he took ALL the startup programs out... didnt read anything just took em all out...

Now he gets a screen that says:
Start in last known configuration or something

and it won't start just goes to Compaq screen blips blue fast then goes back to that black and grey screen

Tried the safe mode on there .... doesnt work just blips blue and goes back to that screen .... doesnt have xp disk or a boot disk .... I know I know ...

So does anyone know what could be the problem or even how to get back into the computer?
Any help would be awesome.

 

press f8 when booting and then select disable automatic restart on system failure. Then post the error on the blue screen.

 

Said to disable stuff and run sdndsk but cant even get past the gray screen after doing the disable like you said

 

Are you saying that when you try to boot with "Last Known Good Configuration" it still will not boot normally? confused

Also what model of Compaq is it? You may be able to do a Recovery from the Built in Recovery Partition, depending on which model you have. I believe it can repair stuff like this without formatting the hard drive and loosing everything.

It is also accessed via boot up.

So if you can reply with the model, I will see if I can help you.

 

Still wouldnt boot...

took it to a computer guy he said the harddrive is toast and that he might be able to get data off it.........

went home with it and my boyfriend just reinstalled windows..... lost everything but the harddrive is just fine so its just a matter of starting from scratch.... our online business site was on there but we backed it up over may long weekend and will go from there
