Thank you, Vista. When i try to personalise desk top back ground/theme a message says One or moresettings has been diabled by system administrator i have searched the web and the only info i get is to go to registry and change 1 to a 0. NoDispBackgroundPage
Alot of sites suggest this but it does not work
    Thanks for your help

Did you reboot after you changed from 1 to 0?
Exactly what key(s) did you change?

okay, I just read your post. Change this key also HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
    NoDispAppearancePage: 0x00000001
    and reboot.

I'm not sure if this key appears HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
I checked a win 2k and an XP computer and neither have that key.

I usually just find the image I want to use on my HD, right click on "Set as Desktop".

And did the key actually change after a reboot? If not, try running regedit 'As Administrator', which is not the same as simply running it from an account with administrative privileges. To run it 'as Administrator' right click regedit.exe and it's on the context menu.
