    Hello
    Win 7 64bit laptop pc
    1-followed read me protocols
2-fixed some registry issues with Rog Killr
3-removed some pups with hitman pro
4-found nothing with mwb, sas, rkill, TDSS Killer & Norton Power eraser
5-mgtools id'd problem with win defender - it was missing altogether, but I was able to get it back by pasting some details back into the registry. I am assuming that something bad deleted it. It is back, but I could not get it working. Did not see anything from other threads on this and am unsure if any malware issues could be hampering getting it working again.
Grateful for the tools and read me protocols http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/cool.gif

Note: In the future, please follow instructions for using the tools as we request. You should not be fixing anything with Hitman Pro or RogueKiller unless we ask you too. Both of these list many things that are not problems and you could inadvertantly delete things you need.

Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Note: That JRT may reset your home page to a google default so you will need to restore your home page setting if this happens.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

Uninstall the below very old version of software:
    Java(TM) 6 Update 33

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win 7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://start.funmoods.com/?f=1&a=ad...tByEyEtN1L2XzutBtFtCtFtCtFtAtCtB&cr=613487203
    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {9565115d-c7d6-46d3-bd63-b67b481a4368} - (no file)
    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {1c68c940-1b2f-46eb-bd8c-2e1612ff6a58} - (no file)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the JRT.txt log
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

You're welcome. Your logs are clean.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Go back to step 4 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
