Just got a laptop from a friend infected with what seems to be a common malware problem around here.

I got to these forums by briefly searching and browsing for the problem on google. I'd be much obliged if I can get a fix for it.

Attached is fixlist.txt

• Save fixlist.txt to your flash drive.
• You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST64.exe on your flash drive.

Now re-enter System Recovery Options.
Run FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt).
Please attach this to your next message. (How to attach)

Now attempt to boot normally and remember to attach the Fixlog.txt.

 

Thanks a lot, that seemed to have at least solved the start-up problem.

So, I'm still not sure what the cause of it was. According to her she kept getting a 'metropolitan police' popup every now and then but that's pretty much all I know.

Regardless I'm now scanning the computer with MalwareBytes and trying to see if everything else is in check. I don't know if I'm overlooking something because you didn't specify any further procedures (yet), otherwise I thank you once again.
