Plextor PX-716A DVD/CD RW problem

Hi, everybody!

A friend just gave me a plextor PX-716A DVD/CD RW that he didn't need it anymore but I can't read or write any CD or DVD. Actually, most of the times when I am trying to read a cd my system crashes.

I don't think that the drive is faulty because I formatted my pc and I installed windows from that drive.

I used MS IDE drivers and this resulted in having PlexTools recognise my drive as slave even if I had it in master mode.

I installed nforce 6.86 IDE drivers and now plextools recognise my drive in master mode but I still can't read or write anything.

Any idea?
