Plz help before i go insane!

Hi im new to this forum but hope someone can help. I have a windows xp pc and i recently had avast anti virus (the free version). I removed it and lost my internet connection - although im able to connect using my ipad. Me and my partner have done several system restores as thats what worked last time but now we are unable to restore as it doesnt give us any available restore points.

If you can help i will be eternally grateful and will pass on this site to everyone i know lol x

Try, click start, then run, then CMD (press enter).

Type in:

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

reboot your computer.
