poker and the weather.

my husband likes to play poker. i have been very leery of online sites because of all the crap you open yourself to when downloading the programs... Tim, do you think you could have section in MG.com for safe places to go, play and download games type stuff?

so, what i'm looking for is a good safe place for my husband to download and play poker online... also, is there a safe type weather bug/programs or ones i can download and block the spywares? thanks!

I like it cause I can set my background as the Current Surface. I like to see when certain storms are coming into my area. Tons of features for this program.

 

im' pretty sure PartyPoker is safe.... it's the #1 Poker site i believe...

i have many friends that use it and i've even downloaded it myself... no spyware that i can report

 

I'll probably get jumped on for this one, but whatever.

I use the WeatherBug. Know what "spyware" it installed? The kind of "spyware" that tells it where I live, so it can give me accurate weather. Nothing else that either Spybot or Ad-Aware has ever caught.

 

I play some on Ultimatebet.com, and have never had any problems with spyware from the program. It is very similar to Partypoker, I just happened to pick ultimatebet before partypoker got so popular.

 

As far as I knew, weatherbug installs adware, if you have the free version, spybot sees this as minibug.

 

You mean the ads included in it that make it free? Spybot thinks nothing of them. Neither does Ad-Aware. Or at least I assume so, since I've not seen anything labeled "minibug" in the ~4 years I've been using WeatherBug. But then, maybe that's because I haven't "chosen a sponsor", which is a window that pops up about every third time I open it. If you hit close, it tell you to pick a sponsor. If you hit close again, it closes.

 

pokerstars.com is BY FAR the best online poker site!!! Of ALL the MANY sites i've downloaded and played...pokerstars is the ONLY one that I haven't recieved junk from!!!! I only play the "play money" games, but...there are ALOT of real money players on there too, but at the same time...if you only want to dabble in play money...they cater the most to play money players, including tournaments, etc.!!!!

Also, right now they also have a test site going that is play money, and whatever you win there...you can transfer it to regular site and it doubles your pot!!

There is also www.pokerroom.com which you just play it online using java. Otherwise I go to www.partypoker.com and play there

last i heard, weatherbug was still the DEVIL

 

My problem with that is that it comes from weather.com...which in my experience has never once been correct about local weather conditions.

 

It's those pesky forecasts I want to be accurate.

Still feeling poorly, haven't worked since June 26. There is hope for October, however.
