This will be old news for the 'old timers' LOL but with so many new members posting in here this will give you a better idea of our guidlines for certain areas and hopefully will help keep things under control.

There are several threads involving political discussions and/or threads that have evolved into political discussions so it's time for a friendly reminder... rather than posting in all the threads...

Please keep in mind the following:

    - Political threads often get out of hand so we tend to watch them pretty close. They get out of hand, they disappear.

    - If you wish to participate in the discussion remember that everyone is entitled to their opinion but you are not entitled to make any form of personal attacks in this forum ie: no name calling, racist comments, putting anyone (member) down b/c they are a Republican/Democrat., etc.

    - If you don't feel you can respond in a respectful and factual manner stay out of the thread. It's as simple as that.

    - If you are upset, outraged or whatever else over someones 'belief' that highly differs from yours and want to reply, please step back from the thread and come back to it later when you feel you can reply in an appropriate manner.

    - Freedom of speech does not apply to this forum so don't even go there.:)

    - If you aren't sure something you want to say is crossing the line or not it's better to err on the side of caution and don't post it.

    - If you see a post that is out of line please click the http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v173/star17abby/report.gif icon found in the upper right corner of all posts. This will open a window so you can confidentially report the post. Please be sure to comment as to why you are reporting it.

Finally, please don't spam this thread or turn it into a political discussion.

    Thank you:)
    AbbySue

Hello Abby boy do i remember from time gone what can happen with political threads. I know what can happen in them and we have seen it here like you said a long time back..

So you saying "Political threads often get out of hand so we tend to watch them pretty close. They get out of hand, they disappear." i could not agree more..

I personaly will try my best to keep my politics of the board due to what the past has shown..Plus there is many sites for those type of debates..because they do go from a discussion to a debate to a heated debate to over heated..

*GASP* Oh My! Lev!! Was that really you? LOL Thanks for your support.:) It's great to have a good intelligent discussion but bad when they stray into childish name calling etc.

Phil my dear...I know that YOU know!;) LOL It's great to be passionate about your beliefs..even admirable but there is a time and place for them and this forum is not always that. And yes, there are many other forums out there that cater to heated discussion...being a tech forum it's just not our thing. Although when these discussion do crop up I thoroughly enjoy reading GT's posts...he is da-bomb when it comes to facts and history:)

Thank you:) We like to keep things civil around here and it's very refreshing when I see a younger member who not only respects the forum guidlines but stays far away from aol kiddie and l33t speak. :)

I owe it all to the book History For Dummies . :p :D

While we're on the topic of touchy topics, cheers to the mods and admins here that have to sweat over those volatile threads. Fair and Balanced should be their slogan instead of Fox News.

Agreed there is a time and a place and a tech forum seems so out of place to be seen going from computers to the total opposite of the extreme posting at times. :)
I agree with you Abby i also remember GTs wisdom and knowledge and enjoyed reading his posts..He sure has a head on his shoulders for history and as you say facts..
I enjoy MGs for all it is, and it is a breadth of fresh air away from my normal hours spent on the internet which is politics.( and i am passionate about it as you know):)

Thanx Steve, i bridged it with MKPORTAL but there is problems with the forum and the portal with logging in and out, so i am messing with Mambo CMS on my home server (easyphp) as it works well with SMF my forums software..Just takes time to learn it.

Couldn't agree more!!! I have to say you guys watch this place very close!!!! And are doing an excellent job!!

I'm also VERY impressed with the demeanor of the young'uns!!!! Half of them, I talked to them for months before I realized they were as young as they were!! For example...Goldfish...I just figured out he is as young as he is!! ;) No offense Goldie!!!!
